Coronation celebrations boosted by council's Community Fund grants

Coronation celebration events across South Kesteven are set to go with an extra swing thanks to South Kesteven District Council's Community Fund.
A special additional round of funding has distributed grants totalling more than £13,000 to 15 different organisations.
Planned activities include Coronation picnics, lunches, street parties, handout of commemorative medals and mugs, music events, a diversity mini-fest, street parties and even an evening ceilidh.
Grants have been made to:
- South Kesteven Stamford Diversity Group to stage a Diversity Coronation mini fest in the car park at Christ Church on Sunday 7 May 12.30-3.30 with music, food, drink, arts and crafts from different countries and cultures
- Pointon and Sempringham Parish Council to give commemorative bookmarks and packets of seeds to Pointon School pupils and the Brownies/ Rainbow group
- Irnham Parish Council towards cost of a Coronation Lunch for all parishioners, plus Coronation mugs for local children
- Stubton Village Hall towards staging a weekend of events with residents opening their gardens for craft making, games and activities
- Ingoldsby Parish Council to organise afternoon tea for residents in the village hall
- Toft cum Lound and Manthorpe Parish Council for a community gathering on the Jubilee Playing Field in Manthorpe
- Colsterworth Parish Council to buy commemorative medals for local children, run an event in the village hall and produce a Coronation Edition Parish Newsletter
- Caythorpe and Frieston News and Views towards costs of a 'Cayfest' music event on the Saturday evening and a children's street party on Sunday
- Uffington Parish Council for an evening Coronation Ceilidh and afternoon tea in the village hall
- Braceborough and Wilsthorpe Parish Council to organise a residents' 'Big Lunch' BBQ and fun competitions for the children and villagers
- Swayfield Parish Council to fund a family picnic on the village recreation field with a disco, vintage-style singer and children's entertainment
- Priory Hall Social Committee to stage a flower festival in Priory Church, Deeping St James
- Hougham Parish Council to host a village community event and provide commemorative gifts for residents and nursery school children
- Denton Parish Council to organise a residents' lunch in the village hall with a children's colouring competition
- Bourne Events Group towards hosting a street party
SKDC's Community Fund has now re-opened for community events and project applications, with a 30 May deadline to apply for the first funding round of 2023/2024. Details can be found online.
