Stamford Arts Centre will come alive with laughter and excitement as it welcomes families for an action-packed Family Day this Saturday, 8 July.

South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) will be hosting the event in conjunction with Arts Council England and Lincolnshire One Venues.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a host of free activities including face painting, arts, crafts and circus skills. A live theatre show is being staged, for which there is a small charge.

Cllr Paul Stokes, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture at SKDC said: "The Stamford Arts Centre is a valuable community hub with a rich programme of events like the Family Day, which will be a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and create lasting memories.

"There is an impressive range of activities on offer and I would encourage everyone to join us for a day of family-friendly fun, to inspire creativity and to explore your local Arts Centre."

A diverse programme has been curated to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy. Highlights include free arts and crafts activities in the Gallery, the chance to transform yourself with face painting in the Ante Room and a captivating storytelling session in the Cellar Bar.

An outdoor puppetry experience, Dinotopia Walkabout will see youngsters embark on an interactive and engaging journey with 30 minute performances taking place at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm.

Children can also unleash their inner clown and embark on a journey of circus discovery with the Circus Skills workshop held in the Blue Room from 10am to 3pm.

Some activities require places to be pre-booked including the Junk Percussion Workshop for youngsters interested in discovering their rhythm. The free workshop teaches children how to play instruments fashioned from recycled materials and will be taking place between 11am and 2pm.

From 10am to 2.30pm, attendees with free pre-booked places will be transported to distant galaxies as they step into the WonderDome Planetarium.

As well as the free activities, a ticketed performance of the Nosy Little Troll will take place in the Theatre with puppets, live music and plenty of audience engagement. Tickets are available to purchase for £8 (£6 concessions) or £24 for a family of four.
