The Government are investigating the 'police formula' as Lincolnshire police face mass cuts.

Lincolnshire Police is looking to cut its PCSO numbers due to a £10 million funding deficit, which the South Holland and the Deepings MP Sir John Hayes has said is 'unfair'.

Government funding as well as the police precept (money taken from Council Tax payments) are the key sources of funding police services nationwide.

In response to questioning from the South Holland and Deepings MP, Policing minister Chris Philp has confirmed that the Government will be consulting on the funding formula.

Sir John said: "The police funding formula militates against them. He would expect me to do no less than make a robust case for Lincolnshire."

Mr Philp replied: "I can tell the House that we will shortly be consulting on a new police funding formula."

Sir John has also put his name forward to lead a campaign in Lincolnshire for fairer funding.

The Government had previously promised a review of the police funding formula in 2015.
