Planning permission has been conditionally granted to transform a walkway into a private courtyard.

The Grade II Stamford Hotel in St Mary's Street is set to become housing in a new development, and the walkway behind the former hotel will be transformed into a courtyard.

This walkway leads off of Cheyne Lane, which is a right of way.

The listed building, currently being used as shops, was built in the early 1800s but has not been used as a hotel since 1983.

Prior to this, the building was used as a political base for Stamford's Whigs, but soon, it will become housing.

As a part of the houses and flats being developed, a courtyard will be created within Stamford Walk, behind the former hotel.

The courtyard would be designed with local architecture and materials in mind.
