The Chief Executive of the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has handed in his resignation.

Andrew Morgan, the current Chief Exec of the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, will be retiring in March 2024.

Mr Morgan shared his resignation letter with colleagues across the county as the news was released.

He said:

I wanted to let you know that I intend giving up full-time work at the end of March 2024, and will therefore leave my role as Chief Executive of United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust at that time.

I have worked in the NHS since 1982, so will be leaving after a career of 42 years. In that time I have had 19 jobs in 14 organisations in eight different parts of the country. I will have been a CEO of eight different organisations spread over 21 years and will have been a Board member for 34 years in total.

It has been an exceptionally varied and interesting career, and so whilst I am planning on stepping away from a full-time executive role, I am hoping not to sever my involvement in the NHS all together. That means that you may see me appear elsewhere in the NHS in Chair/Non-Executive Director/short-term CEO cover roles once I have left ULHT.

I am so proud of my time in the NHS, especially the Outstanding CQC rating that we achieved during my time at LCHS, and the huge achievement of ULHT exiting special measures for both quality and finance last year.

I have always loved the NHS and still think it is the best part of our society. I am so proud that, every day, ULHT has a positive impact on the lives of thousands of people across our county.

I am giving plenty of notice of my exit to allow succession plans to be put in place and to ensure a smooth transition and handover. We will share more details on this in due course.

Please be assured that I have no intention of easing off in my last year- there is still much to do and I intend doing it. I will continue to get out and about across our hospitals as usual, and look forward to working with you all over the next 11 months.

No information has yet been released regarding a replacement for Mr Morgan.
