From 6 - 12 February 2023, it is Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence awareness week, which means that Lincolnshire Police are sharing information regarding consent, sexual assault and more to help keep individuals safe and aware.

Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence awareness week is the UK's national week to raise awareness of sexual abuse and violence and to provide an opportunity for any organisation or individual to engage in dialogue.

During the awareness week, hundreds of events take place, both online and in person, all over the country to raise awareness of sexual abuse & violence. Organisations, charities, schools, businesses, community groups and individuals host events to promote healthy discussions with regards to sexual abuse and sexual violence as well as shine a spotlight on what is normally a very hidden subject.

Lincolnshire Police are one of these organisations, and have voiced their support for the campaign on social media.

The team shared on their social media: "There is one cause of rape. Rapists.

"It is NEVER the fault of the person who has been attacked and violated.

"It's #SexualAbuse & #SexualViolence awareness week and we are taking the opportunity to highlight this and other vital messages."

Find out more about Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence awareness week online and on the Lincolnshire Police Facebook page.
