Members of a local art club are getting ready to paint the mayor in the hopes of winning 'pride of place' at the Stamford Arts Centre gallery.

This Friday, 14 July, members of Welland Valley Art Society will gather to paint the portrait of Stamford's mayor, Andy Croft.

Andy was elected unanimously as Stamford's mayor in May 2023, and is passionate about the market town, having been born, raised and educated in the area.

He is looking forward to selecting his favourite portrait, which will be framed and hung following the competition.

The competition is set to take place at Stamford Arts Centre Gallery between 10am and 1pm on Friday 14 July.

Residents are welcome to pop in, check out the progress of the works and find out more about the local art group.
