A Stamford woman has shaved her hair off for George's Food Hub.

Hollii Johns volunteers at the local food hub and has, this month, shaved her hair off to raise funds for the local charity.

Founded by George 9 years ago, the project had fed in the region of 75,000 people, collected and distributed 235,000kg of food, and saved 200kg of co2 each year.

Already George's new Food Hub is delivering food to three Peterborough projects which are working to feed in the region of 700 people in need each week, including many who are homeless. Food is being collected from four suppliers in the area donating a wide range of food items enabling folk to obtain good wholesome food. More details of all supporting suppliers can be found on the collections page.

On top of supporting this wonderful cause, Hollii's hair has been sent to the Little Princess Trust to make wigs for children in need.

Hollii said: "I volunteer at a local food hub to help people get food that they need and to prevent food from going to waste. We are on a pay as you feel basis and if you cannot afford to give then it's still fine to take food that will help yourself and your family in times of need.

"We take in donations via the pay as you feel and I would like to raise as much as I can to put towards the food hub with helping for new equipment and items that would help us run the hub day to day.

"We collect food from local supermarkets and businesses that would be thrown away, and have a hub where people come along and take what they need. The food is all safe and edible, it's just the companies' policies that they have to bin the food, so we take it. So not only does it help the community it also prevents food waste.

"We have a kitchen every week too to supply those in need with a meal. I am shaving my head to raise funds to help out this amazing cause and it will also be done live on tiktok. This will be taking place the first week of June and I'm hoping to raise money to help the food hub with things they need to help store food and other necessities."

George, of George's Food Hub, added: "She's only gone and done it! Our volunteer Hollii has shaved her hair off!

"Massive thank you to Sheridan at Barber's chop for saving her head for free! And well done to Hollii for doing it.

"The hair is being donated to the Little princess trust and so far she has raised £300 for the hub!"

The team have also encouraged anyone who can to donate, or share the link and spread the word while donations are still open: "Donations are still welcome so if you can please donate, or share this link."

Hollii has raised £300 of her £500 target. You can help her make up the rest of the money on her gofundme page.
