A 17 year old has been arrested and released on bail following the theft of a lamb in Pickworth, South Kesteven.

Leicestershire Police are continuing to investigate following the theft of the lamb on 7 April 2023.

16 year old Tom Gilman was working in the field when, he alleges, an individual got out of a car, chased away other sheep and picked up a lamb.

Delete Gilman, Tom's mother, has appealed on social media: "Why would somebody do that to a little lamb which is just two days old?

"A newborn lamb needs to be with its mother. It needs milk, warmth and to be comforted.

"The majority of people respect the countryside and enjoy seeing the lambs.

"It is horrendous that someone would take a baby lamb away from its mother."

The lamb has not been returned, and farmers fear that the animal has died due to the separation from its mother.
