Police across the UK are raising awareness of the County Lines campaign to prevent the movement of drugs and to protect vulnerable young people and adults.

But do you know what County Lines is?

County Lines is a term used to describe gangs or organised criminal networks involved in exporting illegal drugs into one or more importing areas within the UK.

They use dedicated phone lines or 'deal lines' and are likely to use vulnerable young people or adults to move and store drugs. Methods used to manipulate can be coercion, intimidation, violence, and weapons.

A spokesperson for the Police said: "County Lines is a form of criminal exploitation. It is when criminals befriend children, either online of offline, and then manipulate them into drug dealing. The 'lines' refer to mobile phones that are used to control a young person who is delivering drugs, often to towns outside their home county."
