Today, Tuesday 11 April, The Plough in Greetham are hosting a 'bring your pet to the pub day' in support of the Stamford-based charity, Mutts Nutts Rescue.

The team are encouraging Rutland residents to bring their pets to the pub and join in with a range of activities to help raise money for the local rescue charity.

Mutts Nutts Rescue provide care for dogs and cats who have been left after the owner has passed away or is too unwell to care for them. They are a small local charity based in Stamford, set up to help the elderly and terminally ill with their pets when they cannot manage alone.

The Plough will be opening at 12 noon and will be running the event all day, with any and all pets welcome - not just dogs and cats!

Events going on throughout the day include:

  • a day-long quiz-style game called Name That Butt
  • competitions for different categories of animals
  • take a selfie with your pet in the pub using #petpubday

The team have a special ale on for the event from Froth Blowers called Barking mad, and £1 from every pint sold will be used to buy much-needed food for the rescue.

There will also be collection pots out all day.

On top of this, the Mutts Nutts Rescue team will be visiting at lunchtime with some dogs in need of a loving home.

The team are hoping to be known as "probably the most dog friendly pub in rutland", so pop down and help them make this a reality, and raise funds for the local pet charity, Mutts Nutts Rescue.
