Rutland. County Show is back this weekend.

The annual event is fast approaching, and it promises to be a grand day out.

The event showcases all aspects of rural life in the beautiful county of Rutland, including land farming, animal ownership, heavy horses, food and drinks, outdoor pursuits and activities, as well as local businesses, live music and much more.

It is hosted by Rutland Agricultural Society, which was established in 1831 to promote agriculture in the county, and held at Rutland Showground - a venue that plays host to a range of events throughout the year, from Rutland Music Festival to grassroots football and rugby fixtures.

Each year the show sees 1000s flock to the showground to enjoy a day of outdoor antics and celebrate the rural way of life.

This year, attendees can expect to enjoy dog shows, dogs at work displays and duck herding by some clever sheep dogs, as well as scurry driving and an adrenaline-packed motorcycle stunt display from Bolddog FMS in the main ring.

On top of this there will be cattle and livestock displays, the ever-entertaining Sheep Show, ferret racing, and the goats will be back too.

There will also be a range of equestrian events taking place, including ridden and in hand contests and working horse displays, as well as light and heavy horse classes - and with well over 100 horses entered, the competition is sure to be fierce, but friendly.

For those more mechanically minded visitors, there will be tractor displays and scurry driving, as well as flower arranging and displays for the green fingered in the local community. Gardeners' Question Time with Barnsdale's Nick Hamilton also promises to be a popular event among the novice and experienced members of the gardening community.

There will also be a range of local companies, charities and suppliers in attendance, including Root-and-Branch-Out, who run the Rutland Community Fridges, outdoor workshops, community funding events and more.

The Grainstore will also be in attendance, providing alcoholic and soft drinks from their bar tent.

To go with your locally brewed beverages, live music is set to take place throughout the day in The Grainstore tent, with local bands and performers including Stellify Music, HOYTE, McGoo, JADED, EAGA Gospel Choir and The RAW Collective, who recently launched their debut album.

The show is set to take place on Sunday 4 June from 9am until 5pm.

Tickets cost £12 online, or £14.50 on the door. Under 16s get in for £2. Buy your tickets here.

Parking is available, but visitors are warned that entry via the A606 to the site will be busy.
