South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) are investing £384,985 to repair the Stamford Arts Centre roof.

During essential repair work that took place in 2021, it became apparent that the slate roof of the 18th century building needed replacing - a job that will be undertaken by local contractors, Hardy Construction Stamford.

Stamford Arts Centre houses a 166-seat theatre and cinema, ballroom, gallery and popular coffee shop.

The facility is managed by South Kesteven District Council.

Council Leader and Conservative party member, Kelham Cooke said: "it's a fact it will never run at a profit", adding that this was one of the reasons why the facility has not reopened on Sundays.

The initial round of repairs cost SKDC approximately £190,000 and took place during the pandemic, when the venue was running reduced events.

The roof repairs are set to take place between March and September 2023.

It remains unclear how these works will impact the running of the theatre.
