South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) looks set to clamp down on parking across the area, including at a local bus station.

Bus drivers heading into Stamford have struggled to access the bus station at the hands of drivers parking at the public transport hub.

However, drivers parking in the area may soon received fines if they persist, as the council prepares to clamp down on parking across the district.

At a council meeting this week, the SKDC cabinet approved an order to tackle this. A part of the order would enable parking officers to hand out fines to those parking in the affected areas.

It is thought that a parking restriction will also be put in place at Stamford Leisure Centre to prevent residents and workers parking at the facility. It is hoped that this will free up enough spaces in at the centre that users will not be forced to park elsewhere.

A 21-day public consultation will take place prior to the order being put into place.

Details on this are to follow.

This follows the implementation of phone pay parking across South Kesteven earlier this year, which was welcomed by many but critiqued by those concerned about phone signal and users who do not have smart phones.
