Stamford High Street has been named one of the best in the country by The Telegraph's UK destinations experts.

Stamford has been featured in a line-up of 15 of the best High Streets in the UK, coming 4th overall.

Stamford has been recognised for a range of features and amenities, from "fabulous" independent shops to history, design, and architecture. Cafes, clothes shops, boutiques and antique shops were all highlighted.

The Georgian Market Town, with buildings dating back to the 17th century, is based in the South Kesteven District of Lincolnshire and brags a riverside location as well as strong links for commuters.

There is green space by the River Welland, a short walk from the High Street.

In 2013 it was rated a top place to live in a survey by The Sunday Times, and has been used frequently as a filming location for dramas old and new.

Stamford was used as a filming location for the 2005 films Bleak House and Pride and Prejudice, as well as My Mad Fat Diary, a TV series aired between 2013 and 2015.

Stamford Cheese & Deli, which featured in the 2022 Stamford Nub News Best Dressed Shop Christmas competition, was given an individual mention.

The competiton took place in December 2022.
