A call has been put out for Stamford men interested in making friends, earning to sing, and supporting Prostate Cancer UK.

United in Song, a friendly male choir based in Peterborough, are inviting Stamford men to join them as they launch a new project set to run for 9 weeks.

Launching in March 2023, Men United in Song will sign up around forty local men to take part in a nine-week pop-up singing project, working towards a fantastic live performance in May supporting Prostate Cancer UK.

1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer. If you're over 50, or you're black, or your dad or brother had it, you're at even higher risk.

Prostate cancer is not always life-threatening. But when it is, the earlier you catch it the more likely it is to be cured.

Prostate Cancer UK campaign for men with prostate cancer to receive the best treatment and care wherever they live in the UK, based on the latest evidence.

Joining this male vocal project, you will learn to sing, meet new people, challenge yourself, perform live on stage, and raise money for this much-loved and very important charity.

The group said: "Absolutely no previous singing experience is necessary, just a willingness to step outside your comfort zone, get stuck in and give it a go… it's all about the journey, and we promise we'll have you singing - and loving it - in no time!"

Paul Yaxley, a member of the choir, added: "We were just a bunch of ordinary guys from all walks of life, most of us had never sung before, and we sounded awesome! This is something all men should try once in their lives and it's raising money for a great cause too!"

The project kicks off with introduction sessions on Thursday 2nd March from 6.30pm until 10pm, and Friday 3rd March, 6.30pm until 10pm, when you can meet the team and some of the other men who'll be taking part.

The team confirmed: "This is NOT an audition and there's no big red buzzer, just an opportunity to find out more and get involved - contact us today to book your time slot!"

Rehearsals will take place on Thursday evenings at 7:45pm at the John Mansfield Campus, Western Avenue, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough PE1 4HX. The first rehearsal will take place on Thursday 9 March.

They will provide the music, you will have already met the team, led by Will, so all you have to do is turn up!

The Men United in Song concert is set to take place at Peterborough Cathedral at 7.30pm on Friday 5 May 2023.

If you're looking for a fresh challenge and you'd like to know more, get in touch with the team on their website.
