Stamford Town Council have been encouraging residents to get our walking this spring.

In a recent release from Stamford Town Council, the group of locally elected officials have been encouraging residents to get out and enjoy the local area.

Walking is a great way to improve both physical and mental health, as well as connection with friends and family in a tech-free environment.

As such, Stamford Town Council have shared a range of links to free walking routes and groups, to help inspire their constituents:

Walking in Lincolnshire, a sub-section of Walking in England, features many walks that can be downloaded and printed free of charge. There are also books of walks, details of all the walking groups in the county and much more. Whether you want to walk on your own or with a group, all the information is there in one place.

John Harris, a passionate walker who maintains the Walking in England website, said: "There is so much walking information on the web but it is difficult to find. Walking in Lincolnshire (part of the Walking in England website) has brought it together in one place so whether you are walking from home, or away on holiday, you will be able to find a walk suitable for you."

With walks from half a mile to over twelve miles long, and a suitability rating for pushchairs and wheelchairs, everyone can find a walk to enjoy.

Find a list of Stamford-based walks here.

At Stamford Nub News, our personal favourite from this list is the 9.13 mile Stamford to Collyweston route:

For those who have retired, Stamford u3a, the University of the third age, get out and about in the countryside regularly, and are welcoming new members. Find out more on the u3a website.

Alternatively, you can pick up a copy of Will's Walks, a collection of Walks in Stamford and Rutland offering a huge variety of paths, landscapes and routes to suit everyone.
