More funds are needed to support the maintenance of a medivac 4x4 that was sent out to support the efforts in Ukraine through the generosity of the Stamford community.

Earlier this year, a ex-military man from Stamford, Jack Bon Holly, began 'mustering the troops' in the hopes of raising enough money to send a 4x4 medivac vehicle to Ukraine.

In June, the team hit their target and the vehicle was sent out to the front line.

The vehicle and an array of clothing and food items were personally delivery by Jack, who thanked the community for their support: Jack said: "Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors we have bought our first 4x4, a Nissan Pathfinder, and we couldn't be more proud.

"The vehicle does need four new tyres and a full service, but we hope we can get this work completed in Stamford next week before it sets off on it's journey to Ukraine on Tuesday 6 June, the anniversary of D-Day. Our Pathfinder will be packed full of medical and other supplies urgently needed by the doctors and medics working to save lives. We even have a prosthetic leg to deliver!

"On arrival in Ukraine it will be painted, armoured as best we can, and fitted out ready to transport the wounded in as much comfort as is possible in such a hostile region. We hope to have it in service on the front by mid-June...

"Thank you to all our donors and supporters! We love each and every one of you!"

However, after just over a month of service, the vehicle needs some TLC, and Jack has put out a call to Stamford resident to, once again, show their support.

Team team shared the news in an online video, explaining: "The suspension on the vehicle is shot so we need to get new shock absorbers and up rate that and get some new springs to lift it to the right height so we don't get stuck so often.

"Anything you can donate to get this back on the road we would be really grateful, as we are really struggling for vehicles and without this workhorse on the road, we are really stuck. We need it back out in the forest.

"Thank you."
