On Saturday 25 February, Stamford Rugby managed to pull a win out of the bag against their neighbours from Oakham Rugby Football Club (ORFC).

This long-anticipated face-off came after the game was postponed on 17 December 2022 due to freezing conditions and hard ground.

In one of the final games of the season, the neighbouring teams faced off in chilly conditions, with a massive turn out of home supporters for Stamford.

With a host of seasoned players out due to injury, ORFC put forward a strong but less experienced team. This was noticeable throughout the game, with Oakham supporters commenting on the sidelines that there were some less familiar faces on the team, causing some disjointed play.

Stamford had a strong team out on the field and, although they could not match their autumn 29 -15 victory over Oakham, they came out on top in the final minutes of play, with a final hard-fought try tipping the balance for Stamford.

As the league table stands, Oakham are at number 9, while Stamford sit at number 5.
