We asked Stamford Nub News readers about their favourite shops in Stamford - and the results are in.

We asked and you answered, providing the local Nub News community with your top recommendations for local, independent shops in our Georgian market town.

Stamford is beautiful town with a vibrant high street bragging a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants and companies run and supported by local people.

The question is, which ones are your favourites?

Margaret recommended Asker's Bakery, a traditional and independent bakery that dates back to the 1920s.

Askers, with its bake house in King's Mill Lane and shop in Red Lion Street, is now the sole remaining fully independent bakery in Stamford. freshly-baked loaves, buns, cakes and pastries and has a strong 4.5 review on TripAdvisor.

James, like Margaret, suggested his favourite food shop, Grasmere Farm Traditional Butchers. Located on 34 High Street, this is one of the most popular stores on Stamford's High Street and supplies meat reared at the award winning pork farm of the same name.

Pauline prefers clothes shopping to bakes and butchers, and recommended Energy, Stamford's independent clothes shop for womenswear and menswear.

Energy was established in 1996 and is one of the few long-surviving independent fashion boutiques in this high street. Find the store at 9 Ironmonger Street.

Chris supported this suggestion, adding that Energy is "not only a great place for me to shop, but my daughter loves her new Stamford t-shirt, she's already asking me to get her a hoodie now!"

Stamford Corn Exchange Cafe & Shops also had two nominations. Lizzie, as well as the team from Chris's Fork Emporium, said that the venue offered an "amazing selection of small businesses with gifts for all occasions."
