Residents will be able to see steam power in action on the mainline this weekend as The Stratford Flyer comes through Stamford.

The steam special will pass through the town twice on Saturday, April 1 as it makes the return trip from Norwich to Stratford-upon-Avon.

According to Realtime Trains, the express will pass through Oakham at 8.26am on the southbound journey.

It will then return from Stratford at 4.13pm and reach Stamford again at 7.43pm - full timings can be found here.

Promoted by Railway Touring Company, the excursion will be hauled by Black Five class No. 44932.
