Rutland Water Sailing Club will be hosting a family open day next weekend.

On Saturday 15 July, the team at Rutland Water Sailing Club will be welcoming visitors to take a look at the facilities on offer, enjoy the club and learn more about the sailing opportunities available at Rutland Water.

Rutland Water is the largest manmade body of water in the country, and one of the largest in Western Europe, covering 4 square miles and bragging a circumference of 23 miles.

As such, it is a great spot for sailing, and welcomes young and old, amateur and professional and dingy and day-cruiser sailors all year round.

The club is home to hundreds of members who take part in casual sailing, lessons, volunteer activities, Rutland Sailability, racing events and open days and other community led initiatives at the scenic venue on Rutland Water's south shore.

Rutland residents will be able to experience a few of these activities at the upcoming open day, where there will be the opportunity to test your sea legs out on one of the club dinghies, and enjoy the catering on offer at the club house.

For the adrenaline junkie among us, experienced sailors will be on hand to take visitors out on keelboats and catamarans too, as well as club committee boats to host excursions out on the water.

This is a free, family-friendly event, offering on site parking and service with a smile.

On top of this, the club bar will be open all day.

Head down to Rutland Water Sailing Club to find out more about the facilities on offer from 10:30am until 5pm on Saturday 15 July.

This family friendly day out will allow locals to enjoy the club, try out some dinghy sailing, and head out on the water for excursions.

Catering and bar facilities will be open all day.

They will also be offering a discounted joining fee to those who sign up to join the club within four weeks of the open day
