The 190th Rutland County Show is in need of volunteers.

This month, on Sunday 4 June, the 189th Rutland County Show welcomed 1000s of visitors to Rutland Showground.

The annual event, which takes place in Oakham, the county town of Rutland, saw visitors of all ages flock to the vast agricultural event to enjoy rural exhibitions and displays, games, rides, animal encounters, food and drinks, a livestock auction, live music and so much more.

It is hosted by Rutland Agricultural Society, which was established in 1831 to promote agriculture in the county, and is held at Rutland Showground - a venue that plays host to a range of events throughout the year.

The 189th iteration of the Rutland County Show was sponsored by local companies, MHR and Newton Fallowell, who had the event and show rings named after them, hosting a range of rural events - from ferreting to FMX motocross bike displays and scurry racing to scent demos.

On top of show sponsors, one of Oakham Nub News's sponsors - {my}Dentist - was also in attendance, meeting and greeting visitors and handing out information packs about their new practice on Maresfield Road. Find out more here.

The emergency services were also in attendance, running a meet and greet and recruitment drive.

Rutland & Stamford Sound were also at the show, spreading the word about their local, volunteer-run online radio station, as well as a range of local businesses, sellers and competitors.

One group that made the day possible was the wonderful team of show volunteers, including many from the Lions Club of Rutland, who manned the gates, made sure visitors knew where they were going, handed out show information, ensured that the day ran safely and smoothly - and did it all with a smile.

Now, the Rutland County Show team are looking for more volunteers to assist with next year's show.

Could this be you?
