An expansion has been approved to a business park near Stamford that will see 20 more people being employed on the site.

Rutland County Council has approved the application from the Cecil Family Trust concerning an 11,404m2 site at the Tinwell Lodge Business Park, Steadfold Lane, Tinwell.

The application is to erect four light industrial units for either B1 light industrial or B8 storage and distribution uses (depending on tenant).

The buildings would total 932m2 and parking on the site would increase from 34 vehicles to 46 vehicles.

A planning officer's report said: "Last year an application was withdrawn for a larger extension of the business park that would increase its curtilage, and provide a building that was out of scale with the existing units.

"Following discussions with officers the current scheme has been submitted the provide units that are more in keeping with what is already here on site."

The report also said: "The proposal is in keeping with the existing use of the sites and would new provide B1/B8 floor space and jobs.

"It would not have a detrimental impact upon the character and appearance of the open countryside or its surrounding context, and would be in accordance with [national and local planning policies]."
