The relieved owner of a much-loved family pet Murphy has just contacted Stamford Nub News to say the missing labrador has been found safe and well.

Murphy, an eight-year-old black labrador, went on the run after escaping from the kennels he was staying at while Tina Johnstone and her family were away for the weekend.

Tina, from Thurlby, said: "A man from Stamford who was out on a run and spotted Murphy in Greatford Road near Uffington yesterday went out to look for him again this morning.

"I'm delighted to say that he's found Murphy in Wilsthorpe, in a field behind the church.

"The man got hold of my partner who has just collected Murphy and is driving him home. He took a bit of coaxing, but he is fine and well.

"I'm so grateful to everyone who helped look for Murphy and especially this very kind man.

"I can't wait to see Murphy, he is going to be spoilt rotten when he gets home!"
