Cocktail of the Week: Mint Spritz
Stamford Nub News has joined forces with a regular reader to share a 'Cocktail of the Week' feature.
This week, Josh has created a fresh citrus and mint spritz-style drink.
The Mint Spritz is fresh like a Mojito, but a long drink, inspired by the Aperol Spritz - a popular drink in Italy and one that is packed with citrus flavours.
My take on these two cocktails has created a great tipple for the summer, and although it's getting colder, we can still dream, right?!
Ingredients:
- 25ml lemon juice
- 25ml lime juice
- 25ml trip sec or Cointreau
- 25ml silver tequila
- 50ml light white wine
- topped up with soda water, or lemonade if you prefer
Method:
- add the lemon and lime juice, trip sec and tequila into a shaker
- add ice and shake to chill
- in a tumbler, muddle mint leaves - muddling is where you crush the leaves to release the flavour, and you can do so with a muddler or by crushing thoroughly with the flat of a knife before you put in the glass
- add small ice cubes or crushed ice to a tumbler or long line glass - to crush, either put in a heavy-duty blender or in a bag and hit with a rolling pin
- strain your cocktail over the ice, and garnish with more mint leaves
Check back next week for another Cocktail of the Week, shared each Friday to get the party started.
