The community radio station serving Rutland and Stamford is seeking the views of local people as it moves to the next stage of its development.

Rutland and Stamford Sound launched as a not-for-profit station in March 2021, with the aim of making people feel more connected with the local area.

The station is led by local broadcasting legend Rob Persani, supported by a team of volunteer presenters. Rob has been broadcasting in Rutland and Stamford for twenty-five years and is constantly out and about attending events and talking to local people.

Rutland and Stamford Sound is currently available online, but Rob and the team of volunteer directors are working hard behind the scenes to add either an FM or DAB option.

Alicia Kearns, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton, is supporting the station in its discussions with Ofcom and the relevant Government departments.

Rob explained the reason for launching the survey now: "After nearly two and a half years, the station has built a loyal following of listeners who enjoy the music and value Rutland and Stamford Sound as a source of local news and information. However, we are keen to develop the content, both to better serve existing listeners and to attract new listeners.

"During the next twelve months we are optimistic that we will be available on either FM or DAB, as well as online, making it easier for people across the Rutland and Stamford area to listen. As we plan for the future, it is vital that we provide an opportunity for everyone to have their say on what they want from their community radio station."

The survey will remain open until 30 August.

Rutland and Stamford Sound would like to hear from anyone who lives in the Rutland and Stamford area, irrespective of whether you currently listen. There is an opportunity to win an Amazon Echo Dot smart speaker just by taking part. To complete the survey, head online.
