South Kesteven District Council have activated their Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) this week as temperatures remain below freezing.

Severe Weather Emergency Protocol responses exist in order to prevent deaths of people sleeping rough during winter, and encourage community support to reach out to those in need and to report cases of homelessness to the relevant authorities.

South Kesteven District Council shared on their social media: "As the weather continues to fall to 0ºC or lower overnight, SKDC's Severe Weather Emergency Protocol is currently activated.

"If you are concerned about somebody who may be rough sleeping please call us free on 0800 121 4430. If it's outside normal office hours, please call 01476 59 00 44."

The activation of this protocol is likely to last until Friday 16 December 2022, with temperatures being monitored closely as the Council support vulnerable, homeless individuals amid freezing temperatures.
