The Rutland Vineyard team are getting ready to harvest their red grapes, but they need your help.

Located on top of a narrow ridge between the rivers Welland and Chater, 70m above sea level and facing south Rutland Vineyard is located in a prime part of the county, on the Rutland-Stamford border.

160 million years ago, the land would have been England's south coast, meaning that it is made up of jurassic soils and minerals, creating a distinctive taste and stunning scenery, great for growing.

On top of this, the venue is a beautiful spot to enjoy a glass of white, rosé or red looking out over the Rutland countryside.

And soon, you can embrace the opportunity to do more than just drink the wine - and get hands on harvesting the grapes.

On Wednesday 19 October, residents have been invited to help out at the independent vineyard and café harvesting the first batch of red grapes since the business launched and the first vines were planted in 2021.

The white grapes were picked last week, and the event was so popular with volunteers, that the job was done before lunch time - so be sure to head down in good time to avoid missing out on the opportunity to take part in the first red grape harvest since the Romans cut their vines on local soil.

Join the event from 9am - and don't forget your secateurs!
