Stamford's Barclays is set to close.

According to an announcement made today, Friday 27 January 2023, Barclays will leave Broad Street Stamford, as well as High Street, Oakham, on 28 April this year.

This comes after the announcement in November 2022 that the HSBC will be closing 114 branches, including those in Stamford and Oakham. Stamford's HSBC will close on 16 May 2023.

92 per cent of Stamford Barclays users banked using the Barclays app, website and phone banking in 2021. Three customers used the branch as their only means of carrying accessing their accounts.

A spokesperson for Barclays said: "When deciding whether to close this branch, we looked carefully at how it's been used and how customers are banking in other ways.

"We'll be working with the community to understand the impact of closing this branch.

"Once we've gathered feedback, we'll publish the results in a booklet called 'Branch closure feedback'."

The booklets will be available at the Stamford and Oakham branches.
