People living in Stamford are being reminded to check changes to their bin collection days over the festive season.

South Kesteven District Council have changed bin collection days over the festive period to fit in with bank holidays over Christmas and the New Year.

The changes will be as follows:

Friday 23 December - No change

Monday 26 December - Saturday 24 December

Tuesday 27 December - Wednesday 28 December

Wednesday 28 December - Thursday 29 December

Thursday 29 December - Friday 30 December

Friday 30 December - Saturday 31 December

Monday 2 January - Tuesday 3 January

Tuesday 3 January - Wednesday 4 January

Wednesday 4 January - Thursday 5 January

Thursday 5 January - Friday 6 January

Friday 6 January - Saturday 7 January

Pink bags will be collected on black bin days. Clear bags, carrier bags and cardboard boxes will be collected on silver bin days.

Green bin collections will also be changing over the winter period, with lass garden waste being produced as temperatures drop and the ground freezes.

There will be no green bin collections from:

24 December - 8 January

21 January - 5 February

18 February - 5 March

South Kesteven District Council have also urged residents to recycle their trees: "Don't forget that you can put your real Christmas tree out for recycling on the usual January green waste collection day for your street even if you don't subscribe to the service."
