Yesterday, 25 January 2023, Alltech hosted the Stamford Striders as they handed over £26,000 in funds raised at the 2022 Stamford Santa Fun Run to representatives from three local charities.

Alltech were one of the sponsors of the 2022 Stamford Santa Fun Run, which took place on Sunday 4 December, and yesterday played host to a group of organisers, charity representatives, and enthusiastic runners as £26,000 was handed over to the chosen charities of the annual community event.

The Stamford Santa Fun Run is an annual event attracting people of all ages and fitness levels, to a 5km course within the safe, attractive and accessible grounds of Burghley Park. Children and adults receive a Santa suit through their entry fee and, wearing them, can run or walk the 5km course, with the aim of raising money for local charities.

Stamford's is the largest Santa run for miles around. As well as a huge contingent from Stamford, people come over from Peterborough, Rutland, Bourne, Grantham and further afield to participate in this festive event.

This year, the event drew a range of local sponsors, who enable the event to take place, as well as over 1,500 participants, who helped the event sell out in record time.

The event, previously run by Stamford Burghley Rotary, was taken over in 2022 by a large local running club, Stamford Striders, who gathered upwards of 50 volunteers to help marshal the event.

Robin Ball, Chairman of Stamford Striders, said: "What a great day we had. The sight of 1,500 Santas running a triangular course in a continuous line - an absolutely magnificent sight and one that brought a tear to the eye. This event is very much becoming one of Stamford's key fixtures in the build up to Christmas."

Robin Ball thanked the sponsors in attendance, and personally handed out donations to each charity.

Sue Ryder were given £17,000, MindSpace Stamford £4,000, and Stamford Burghley Rotary £6,000.

Pip Tiffin, the representative from MindSpace Stamford, a local charity committed to improving mental health and wellbeing in the local community, said: "Stamford Striders support our running group on a Friday morning, so without them, as well as this generous donation, we wouldn't be able to host some of our events. This donation will help keep our activities free."

Savills was the main sponsor of the event, with 'reindeer sponsors' combining to support the run

'Santa', 'reindeer' and 'elf' sponsors were thanked at the event.

A host of 'elf sponsors' were also thanked at the event

One sponsor was Upp, a new broadband provider who have become a familiar face within the local community for their work with local charities, groups, and event organisers.
