Stamford Striders hosted their yearly Valentine's 30k this weekend.

The annual event, which saw nearly 500 runners completing an 18 mile course in the beautiful Stamford countryside, took place on Sunday 12 February.

The Stamford Striders' St Valentine 30K Race is the flagship event organised by the Club.

It is run each year on the Sunday closest to St Valentine's Day and is recognised nationally as a tough event, providing a good training race for those planning a spring marathon.

This year's Valentine's 30k was the 29th running of this prestigious event.

The event was won by a runner from Sheffield's Steel City Striders club, Robert Byers, 31, who came in with an impressive time of 1:47:33.

Alexander Brighton, 41, came in second place at 1:48:05, and one of Stamford's own Striders, Luke Harrison, 37, crossed the line in 1:50:39.

Stamford Striders are well known in the local area, and host the annual Santa fun run at Burghley House too.

This year, the Christmas event raised over £26,000 for local charities. Read more about this here.
