A local author, Emily Bateman, has released the first in a promising new series of books based in and around Stamford called 'Death at the Auction.

This title is the first in a new series called 'The Stamford Mysteries' and tells the story of Felicia Grant, a former Stamford resident who is thrust back into her old life when a flying visit home turns into a murder mystery.

The blurb reads:

When an accident forces Felicia Grant back to her family's auction house in Stamford, she vows it'll only be a flying visit. But as the gavel falls on the final lot, a hidden secret is revealed—the body of her father's business rival, murdered during the packed sale!

Soon, Felicia is swept into a mystery that has everyone in the community as a potential suspect―including her.

As the body count rises and with the people she loves under threat, Felicia takes matters into her own hands. But even the most picturesque place has its secrets…

The title is on sale at Stamford's Walkers Bookshop.

Author E. C. Bateman is an antique jewellery specialist who moved to Stamford upon marrying an auctioneer, so her title is full of fact and accuracy as well as thrilling twists and turns.

The title has been described as a "brilliant whodunnit mystery perfect for fans of M.C. Beaton and Richard Osman" by Google Books.
