The Stamford community are invited to join a service to mark the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine this Friday at a 'One Year On' service.

With the support of Stamford Diversity Group CIC, Stamford Churches will be hosting an anniversary event to commemorate Russia's invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022. This was a major escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, which has been going on since 2014.

This unrest has driven millions of Ukrainian people from their homes to seek refuge across Europe, with many Ukrainian families being housed in the UK.

The Stamford community are marking their struggles this week, as well as remembering those who have been left behind, injured, and killed in the conflict.

Rev Peter Stevenson will open and close proceedings and lead the 2 mins silence and prayers.

Stamford Poet Laureate, Scott Coe, and the inaugural Youth Laureate, Daniel Paice, will be in attendance, alongside the local Ukrainian community.

Members of the Ukrainian community will light a candle for those left behind.

The event will take place this Friday, 24 February, at 6.30pm at Browne's Hospital, Broad Street, Stamford.

All are welcome and encouraged to show solidarity and support as the war continues.
