The Wiz-Hard of Oz

On 27 and 28 May, head to Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre for a night of naughtiness and innuendo as you watch Dorothy get tossed over the rainbow.

Will the Wiz-hard be able to get get her home, Or will the Wicked Witch have her Wicked way with her?

Join Dorothy and Auntie Em on the ride of their lives, along the yellow prick road where they are joined by 3 very special friends.

All the usual panto fun but for adults only. Oh yes it is you naughty lot!

Sense and Sensibility

If you're looking for a more 'sensible' evening of theatre, join the Stamford Arts Centre team for the captivating Jane Austen classic, 'Sense And Sensibility' on 27 May at 7:30pm.

Unfairly compelled to leave their family home and left almost destitute by their brother and his spiteful wife, the Dashwood sisters and their mother must make a new beginning. Despite their very different personalities, both the prudent, sensible Elinor and the impulsive, open-hearted Marianne suffer great sorrows in their affairs of the heart yet they finally find contentment and peace in their new lives. With dazzling wit, humour and sharp characterisations, Austen's captivating story is brought to vivid life by Hotbuckle, in this new version by Adrian Preater.

Stamford Club Ride

On Sunday 28 May at 9am, join the Cyclists of Stamford Club Ride at Rutland Water.

Take part in a dedicated 18-mile bike ride around Rutland with a half way coffee stop in Uppingham along the way. Starting and finishing at Rutland Water Normanton Car Park. Bring your own bike or hire one through Specialized. Tandem rides available for visually impaired riders and opportunities to join other group rides.

The meeting point is at Rutland Water Normanton Car Park, Edith Weston, LE15 8HD.

The event is free as a part of the Rutland Walking and Cycling Festival. Find out more about the fortnight-long festival here.

Burghley Game and Country Fair

Burghley Game and Country Fair returns this weekend, Sunday 28 and Monday 29 May.

On the last Bank Holiday weekend of the month, Burghley House will play host to a range of country pursuits, activities, stalls and more as thousands of locals flock to the annual event celebrating the rural area. 

Enjoy first class entertainment from some of the countryside's top names and organisations, as well as lots of country sports such as Clayshooting, Airguns, Archery, and Fishing.

On top of this, there will be a large selection of dog events and other popular show features including the Craft Village, Food Show (with chef demonstrations), Falconry, and Vintage Vehicles, not to mention the must-visit Food Courts.

The show promises a fantastic day out for all the family, and costs between £6 and £16.

The event kicks off at 10am and goes on until 6pm both days.
