A fire has forced the closure of the A1 by the Colsterworth junction this lunchtime.

First reported at approximately 11:30am, a fire has resulted in the closing of a lane on the southbound carriage way by the police and fire department.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the southbound stretch of the A1 in between the B6403 Woolsthorpe/Easton turn-off and the A151 Colsterworth Services junction.

Police and fire crews are on the scene and will reopen the carriageway as soon as it is safe to do so.

Dalyes of upwards of 40 minutes have been reported by AA Traffic.
